"The body is but a vessel for the soul. A puppet which bends to the soul's tyranny. And lo, the body is not eternal, for it must feed on the flesh of others, lest it return to the dust whence it came. Therefore must the soul deceive, despise, and murder men."
— A. J. Durai

Skatayan Viera — Neimrahava 'Woodwarder' — Riskbreaker

ㅤWhat is left is a hamlet and the wails of yore.ㅤ

Riskbreaker. A royal steeple of fangs. Cushion for barbs and spittle alike, the lot of Dalmasca's once-guardians is a bitter gruel. Its rank have oft been reviled as glorified assassins for highborne, little more than the lapdogs sent to convenience atrocities. No sacrifice of honour or dignity too great to sutain the government's leal reputation. The VKP's thinned rank-and-file have many wounds to mend in the wake of the IVth occupation, and yet the Blue Council has not shied in presenting its tools with ample opportunities to redeem themselves. The players shuffle, but the game ill-changes.Nharïv is one such lodestar. A run-up transfer from the Rumta-Zaraam, this snaggletoothed leporine is an infusion of new blood, a fresh circulation to purge the befouled cruor leeched by the resistance's filtering. Boasting a record of service in Bozja and the southern liberation campaign, he has all the appearances of a model soldier. Much like their Gyr Abanian sister-insurrection, the Dalmascans have not yet finished with rebuilding and seating the many organs of reign left vacant by the Garleans' abuses. New methods, new faces, and new ideas swirl in the whorl of power. And, as any gods-fearing kith will remind you: a revolution oft lacks for a sense of its ending. Competing factions in the eclectic resistance groups of the Dalmascan coalition have thrown affairs into a quagmire over petty feuds, each funded and driven by its own shaded sponsor. Worse yet are those who conspire to beggar the new regency into infirmity. Foreign somnia-peddlers, Eorzean usurers, Zodiac fanatics, and neighboring influencers besides. Dalmasca's threats menace from without and within, bading its chirurgeons to work themselves in a tireless frenzy addressing every little ail.

Nhari prowls between slates of obsequious indulgence, sardonic entreaty, disaffected prodding, and incisive cretin - more mummer than manic, sifting through the deck of guises as befits the sunsoaked bazaar or the meyhane parlour. To an outsider, he is gladly shaped by his reckless obsessions and the unvoiced, unexamined impulses of devious motives. Unlike his stonier, grim comrades, the Viera springs to tease the capricious levers and cogs of kith with the winsome allure of an alley-physicker.Nhari is a crucible's corrosive. A seedy embellishment, a jagged slip of scrivening from an arm fallen asleep, an alchemist's concoction left too long in the alembic such that it begins to chew through the copper bottom. He is ill-bottled or contained, and yet reads like a discovered shackle: regret and uncomfortable obligation for those with nowhere left to turn.

The Valendia Knights of Peace, also known by its acronym VKP, are an organization based out of Valnain. Until the occupation of the Garlean Empire, they operated under the direct command of the Valnain National Council. During the occupation, control of the organization was transferred to the IVth Imperial Legion. Following Dalmasca’s liberation, the VKP now reports directly to the new Dalmascan government. The Knights of Peace were originally created to maintain order across Dalmasca Inferior, responding to both foreign or domestic threats. The need for a more organized military presence emerged with the Garlean invasion of Bozja and the growing activity of heretical cults, namely the Sect of Germonique. Despite their militant structure, the VKP were widely regarded as guardians of the people—symbols of discipline and protection.

From their inception, the Valnain National Council established the Knights as a stabilizing force to preserve peace within Dalmasca Inferior’s borders. Rising tensions with Garlemald and the reappearance of Lucavi prompted the creation of a specialized peacekeeping body capable of confronting threats both arcane and political.Under Garlean occupation, public perception of the organization shifted—from defenders of Dalmasca to collaborators and oppressors. Many within the ranks found themselves weaponized against their own countrymen, ordered to dismantle resistance cells, suppress cultural dissent, and enforce foreign doctrines. After the liberation, the Knights who remained in service now carry a complicated legacy of both duty and shame.

Though records have been lost or redacted over the years, several core groups remain recognized by former operatives and historians alike.

Skatayan Viera — Neimrahava 'Woodwarder' — Riskbreaker

Skatayan Brood

Secluded in boreal aeries, Nhari's leporine kin read like a badly-itched sore. The bittersweet fondness of woad-brother and woad-sister might traipse his tongue, but there is oft a cracked edge. Misplaced mischief. The taiga summons everything that an exile is witheringly nostalgic of, yet fears the most. Homecomings are smeared with one's deepest, most intimate treacheries. For fellow Viera, be it Rava, Shetona, or his own Veena ilk, Nhari reserves a special indulgence and a skewered stare. He might muster up every last coin in his purse to pay their bondage, or send them into healing hands, yet strive wildly to crush the feeble fingerlings holding on.Why, o, why does he curdle such a cauldron of resentment and endearment alike?

Lente's Tears

Amidst choking scythes of dust, sweltering humidity and dense jungle, or brackish coastal dugouts - there the Dalmascan resistance lingered. No few idyllic blades-for-hire, dreaming murkily of libation from the tyranny of ivoryling sutures, gathered under the banners of Queen Ashe's cause. Their dreams clamoured together, a penny for revenge, a gil for glory, a pfennig to land a seat at the blue council. 'twas quite the visage to see so many surging with vexed tremor, and worse yet to watch as it crashed into magitek cankers as waves.A stamped service bijou, little more than a toll of dead, hangs from Nhari's pack. It's oft a place to start a story, or the starting pistol for an evening full of drowning spirits.

Cast Bones

The scalding furioso of all Rumta-Zaraam in the wake of the IVth Legion's defeat was to punish irreverent traitors, collaborators, and to chase the Garlean brood back to their hiemal gaol. While not the sadistic firebrand of his peers, this purpose still lurks in Nhari's hindbrain. A deep and unabiding passion for the crusade drives Nhari into unwise entanglements, and even more reckless gambits.Naturally, he might say, he does not hold the crimes of legionaries above the heads of every triclops, but it doesn't hurt to salt their wounds.

Dream of Werlyt

A direwolf, obsidian of pelt, devoured that tiny Ilsabardian principality with the rapine glee of thrashing a plump hare. With such suddenness, one could mistake it for a dream. Indeed, mortar holes, now grassy hillocks and buckets for rusty munition-spoils, litter Werlyt's central plains. Half-deserted villages occasionally see seedlings of new life in the awkward, sheepish faces of tillers from the coast.Yet a misty film ails this vision, Like a milky sunspot, polluting its clarity. The dream is buried under misery and ghosts. Nhari's accent is tinged with the high cliff invocation of the common tongue, one he will only bitterly admit under duress.

Fiend, Feral, Flay

The sacred pact of the wood-warder manipulates a Viera's most primitive, caustic yearning: to test themselves. For gibbering monstrosities lurk within the high mountains of Skatay, just as vast and vile beasts make their home in Golmore's nethers. A single migration of these hungry butchers could spell the end of any tribe, and thus.. Each year, males of their kind perish under claw, between tooth, and or crushed by squeezing vices beyond any recognition. But they do not die in despair, for an animalistic exaltation lurks in the harrows of mortal combat. The same stirring ecstasy swims under this jackrabbit vindicator's flesh. While he does not wear the colours of a viper, Nhari is wickedly glad to spring into competition against the kingly predation of the land. The mere whisper of it is an opiate, bidding him to gamble on the fates.

Auracite Mesmers

The fell gleam of those perfidious crystals has entranced mortals since ancient Lesalia. It twists and warps flesh, rendering the host malleable as a sickening scarecrow of meat. Yet this is far from the worst. When the possession is complete, the stone banishes the spirit of the original Spoken and hollows out their corse into a great gourd that can service as the skulking creche of an unspeakable evil. These entities - scions of the outerdark - are known as the Lucavi, and the duty of all Riskbreakers, all Dalmascans is to make any sacrifice to spell their ruin. The leporine is often questing in an endless chase for chunks of this perverted stone. He interrogates necromancers, accosts antiquarians, and raids libraries in pursuit of crumbs. Even the tiniest mote may lead to their excavation and final destruction. The search unceasing. And in this grand journey, any aid is tolerated.

Marble Nest

Betwixt glacial floes and the trade-dromonds, Sharlayan's scholastic citadel lingers. Greedy for cunning. To the eternal sore-humors of the jackrabbit, 'tis also the abode of his twin, an up-and-coming archon candidate, and for whose sake he rarely makes the trek up the northerlies to visit.Whilst nothing inspires dread in the Viera quite like the thought of sowing his roots in that snow-scabbed hermitage, he lends an ear to Sharlayans out of a boyish obedience to his sister's good image. Contracts on collections, pilfering rare ingredients, or tracking down missing bookworms are just a curse of his bad luck.If recognized for his sister's resemblance, travellers will be treated to Nhari's petulant groan.
